Here’s a new segment here called, Story Time with Susan.  I’ll be featuring short books or funny excerpts from stories that I enjoy and think you will too.  This was inspired by the new book, “Go the F@ck to Sleep” which I pre-ordered and should have to share in mid-June.

Today’s book, All my friends are dead, was an Amazon suggestion based on my pre-order of “Go the F@ck to Sleep.”  The story is written by Avery Monsen and Jory John. It’s a children’s book for adults that explores the downside of being everything from a dinosaur (all your friends are dead to a pirate (all your friends have scurvy). A laugh out loud look at life. You can order your own copy at Amazon for less than $10 by clicking on the photo at the top of the page.  To listen to the story, watch my narration below:

  1. I’m adding it to our library. Right now.

  2. Cute idea, and you certainly found some interesting titles. Sadly, I don’t have enough bandwidth left this month to watch the video.

    • You’re not missing much w/ the video…I usually immediately regret them as soon as they post. This was no different.

However, the books are funny…I got a few more that are great too!

  3. Very funny story. My husband, who likes to pretend like he’s uninterested in anything I do, was secretly spying over my shoulder while I was watching the video. I didn’t notice until he burst out laughing.

The pearls were a nice touch btw. Very classy.

  4. HILARIOUS!!!!

  5. Fantastic! I was thinking of doing video book reviews too, but this is just too much! I must go and get this book now!

    • Glad you enjoyed it! I always regret the videos after I post them….especially ones where I’m in my PJ’s at the end of a LONG day. Or the ones where I dance around in a leopard leotard.

I also bought, Ten Little Zombies and I Hate Everything. I highly recommend both :)

  6. My favorite part of the video is that the entire book is read ONE HANDED so that you don’t have to put the glass of wine down! Hahahahaaha! You are SO my kind of mommy!

  7. You crack me up! This was especially needed after my trip to the grocery store today. My two year old thought it would be a good idea to lick, yes, lick the shopping cart (have I mentioned I have serious germ issues?) I was frantically yelling “no nooooooo dirty!” while balancing a wailing ten month old on my hip, dropping four liters of milk and simultaneously pulling her face of the cart. Just as another shopper walked by she starts to giggle uncontrollably, saying “mommy sad, mommy no like germies” Good times. I do believe she has learned how to push my biggest button. Great.

The nail polish and pearls were a nice touch btw!

    • Emma, my 3yr old licked the cart on Tuesday at the damn deli counter. He was trying to see inside, climbed up and almost open mouth kissed it …gross!

i love your daughter already knows which buttons to push…look out!

And thanks for noticing the pearls- lol Trying to bring a little class to story time :)

  8. That is full of awesome i can’t even stand it!!

  9. Just started following your blog…and I love it! Just wanted to say that these books sound hilarious! Thanks for sharing!

  10. Best bed-time story ever! I’m a new follower and will post your badge on my site. Looking forward to more “Story Time With Susan”.
