I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, and I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year full of peace (and quiet)!
We’ve had some back to back illnesses in the house, but nonetheless, had a great Christmas. My kids and husband have all had a terrible case of the flu, so I rang in the New Year alone, in my pj’s, watching movies and eating pound cake and cocktail peanuts until I got a stomach ache. I’ll be honest, it was kind of awesome.
Right after Christmas my house is always a mess of wrapping paper, empty boxes, plastic ties that bound toys inside their packaging, and of course pine needles. I’ve spent the better part of the last week disinfecting, but now the holiday cleanup begins.
I took all my Santa and Christmas stuff down, removed all the lights and outdoor decorations, took all of the ornaments off the tree and even got the damn thing out to the curb all by myself (husband is sick in bed for the forth day).
The tree has proven to be the biggest pain in the ass, but up until this morning I was really impressed with the amount of needles it retained. For perhaps the first time ever, I didn’t need to vacuum needles around the tree even one time since we put it up.
But once I started moving the tree out of the house, I heard the sudden yet unmistakable sound of a billion needles hitting the floor. As I waded through the fallen foliage of the once mighty Christmas tree, I knew no matter how much I swept, no matter how many times I vacuumed, I would surely be finding these pesky pine remnants for months to come.
This will be worse than the unicorn poop incident.
So as I dig out from all the presents and pine needles, I’ll be thinking of some resolutions for 2013. It just wouldn’t be the New Year if I didn’t have any resolutions to break…
What about you? How was your holiday? Any resolutions for 2013? Leave me a comment and let me know!
