It’s “vacation” time again – and because this is a family trip I of course use the word vacation loosely.
Sure, we’ll be at the beach and my husband is supposed to have off work for the week, so as far as that goes, yes it’s a vacation. But with three little kids, there isn’t much relaxing as the word vacation sort of implies.
Regardless, I’m excited to get on the beach, but for now I’m busy packing.
A friend was kind enough to lend me an extra cover up since I lost mine after leaving it at a pool, and when she dropped it off she thought she stumbled on a secret.
I saw her eyes continuing to glance around me to my dining room table which is covered in everything from boxes of cereal to suntan lotion, and at first I thought she was marveling at the mess. We were talking about my I Just Want to Pee Alone booking singing this Tuesday (7/25 at 7pm at Bethany Beach Books – come see me!), when she abruptly stopped mid-sentence and said,“I’m sorry, I just have to ask about this,” and proceeded to walk into the dining room where she picked up a bottle.
“Seriously, is there something you aren’t telling me?” she questioned shaking the white bottle in my direction.
I laughed and she kept waving the bottle about with her glance fixed and her eyebrows raised.
“Well?!” she persisted.
I then had to explain to her that it was for vacation only, and in anticipation for eating (lots of) good food, drinking good drinks, and not stepping on a scale for the next two weeks.
I am not pregnant.
Doesn’t everyone use Palmer’s Cocoa Butter to prevent stretch marks before vacation?
I can’t be the only one that spends a solid week trying to eat their weight in (Thrasher’s) Boardwalk Fries, right?
Since I believe in sharing knowledge, here’s a vacation tip from me (someone who gained 8lbs on a cruise once and at least that much on a trip to Jamaica once as well):
Although there won’t be much relaxing, I hope I’ll still have time to blog next week while I’m away…like Part II of the SPANX-KINI (on location).
And please keep me in your prayers as I face 7hrs of road time before the beach when we head to Pittsburgh for the weekend…plus another 7hrs home.
In the meantime, if you’ll be at Delaware Beaches or in the Ocean City, MD area next week, come see Bethany from I Love Them the Most When They’re Sleeping and I at Bethany Beach Books at 7pm on Tuesday, June 25th where we’ll be signing copies of our best-selling humor anthology, I Just Want to Pee Alone!
