I bet that I’m going to need a vacation from my vacation, but we sure are having fun…
Although it’s been hot, humid, and I’ve been sporting my beach hair (seriously, it’s providing as much shade as an umbrella), we’ve still been hitting the beach. Really, as long as you’re in or right next to the water, it’s been really nice.
In fact, we made up games to keep the kids cool and entertained which lead us to actually stay on the beach longer than it took us to pack to get there on Monday- WIN! That’s a parenting milestone that I never thought we’d achieve!
We’ve been doing more than just hitting the beach this week; in fact, Tuesday I had a big night out at Bethany Beach Books where one of my co-contributors, Bethany Meyer from I Love Them the Most When They’re Sleeping, and I were signing copies of the best-selling anthology, I Just Want to Pee Alone (Click here to get a copy!).
It was about 100 degrees and we battled some persistent flies as we sat outside greeting bookstore patrons, but we sold some books and met some great people. You’d be surprised at how many people stop to look at a book with a toilet on the cover…or maybe that’s not surprising, but I’m pretty sure we were a hit regardless. Thank you to everyone that came out to see us!
Of course we took the kids over to the Rehoboth Boardwalk this week as well so
I could eat a large bucket Thrasher’s Boardwalk Fries by myself we could play some games and go on some rides. Since the three kids all have different preferences for which rides they want to go on, it was great to have my Mom and Dad there too so the kids could all ride what they wanted without delay, and we even had an adult left over to take pictures!
We got some great pictures like these two of my husband and I with the two of the kids which really captures some of our differences in overall parenting styles…and no, we are not wearing matching shirts.
Because I love the picture of my husband and my son so much, I’ll be giving it its own page in the family photo album (and tucking an extra copy in with Jake’s records so we can access it easily later when he’s in therapy).
Truth be told, my son has ridden this ride on several occasions, and he is the one that begs my husband to get on it with him…cause I’m not riding anything that might make me toss my boardwalk fries.
And while I’m relaxing on vacation, don’t forget to come here and enter (up to once a day) to win a tote bag full of prizes in celebration of my blog’s 3rd birthday! It’s just like a toddler’s birthday only with wine and no whine – ENTER HERE.
