Often times when someone talks about all the ‘firsts’ that come after having a baby it’s things like the baby’s first words, baby’s first tooth, baby’s first steps…
But when it’s a woman’s first child, a new mother goes through all kinds of firsts too.
First time hearing someone call you Mom.
Not all the firsts are something we look back upon fondly, however.
Baby’s first fever.
Baby’s first boo-boo.
Then there’s Mom’s firsts that we’d love to forget altogether.
The first time you leave your baby.
The first time you lose your temper.
Some firsts I was able to prepare myself for, but I can’t say that made them any easier – like that first day back to work.
There were unexpected firsts too, of course.
After becoming a Mom, I’ll never forget that warm feeling that came over me that very first time I… jumped on a trampoline.
And what a warm feeling it was!
Truly, it never occurred to me that a once was a leisurely, playful activity could turn into a surprisingly difficult bladder control exercise.
But alas, we live and learn!
So now whenever I’m invited for a bounce, I tell people it Depends.
Because after all, parenting is all about improvising!
Hope you all had a great New Year! In addition to a few personal resolutions I’ve been working on, I’m thinking 2015 has to be my year for working with a big brand on a social media or advertising campaign. If you enjoyed this faux ad for Depends, check out what I did for Clorox and Purell. Can you believe no one has offered me a job yet?!
