Our friends over at Luvs Diapers have a great campaign going this holiday season where they’re asking parents what they truly value and feel thankful for with the hashtag #WhatULuv.
After all Luvs is the official diaper of experienced parents, and that’s because they’ve always committed to providing moms and dads with value. They recognize that parenting can be difficult, so diapering shouldn’t be (thanks for making a crappy job, well, less crappy Luvs)! Since they’ve got a finger on the pulse of value, Luvs even recently conducted an honest to goodness real formal poll of moms across the country to take a look at parenting like it really is and uncover what they truly value most.
When they asked me what it was that I valued and was thankful for, I of course had just one question – “What did all the other Moms say?”
Not that I’m afraid of sharing my honest answers, but I wanted to know on a scale of “Only one kid has caught lice so far this year” to “Our daughter has been selected to represent our country in the 2020 Olympic Games” where I should fall with my own responses. I mean, sure there’s a time and a place to humblebrag, but day to day, what is it that we parents value most? Well, here’s the answers to that formal poll:
I was a little surprised at the results, and mostly because I could totally relate.
Nearly 2 in 3 moms have never taken a day completely for themselves? Yep. Seems about right. Even when I had people who volunteered to give me some time off when I first had a baby, I hated the pressure of having to go and find something to do. Can’t I just go take a nap in my room for a few hours?
How about 81% of moms would prefer an entire day off from housework than dinner with their celebrity crush? I mean, sorry Channing Tatum, but if I had the choice between a day without doing the laundry, dishes or cleaning the bathroom versus having to put on pants and makeup to dine with you, I’d say “The Clorox wipes are under the bathroom sink, and don’t forget to lift the seat because no one can seem to hit the toilet bowl!”
There was 87% of moms agree that the first time their child slept through the night was one of their best parenting times yet, which comes in a close second later once everyone is potty trained!
Then there was a quarter of moms surveyed who stated that they felt an uninterrupted shower was more relaxing than a day at the spa. It’s the little things, people!
Other major moments moms value more now than before they became parents include sleeping past sunrise, watching television and movies that aren’t cartoons, and having an interrupted phone conversation. Once I get to do all these things, I’ll weigh in on them, but boy they do sound lovely.
Some of this stuff just comes with experience, but when you’re thinking of what to give your loved ones who have little ones this holiday season, suddenly a handmade gift certificate for “Netflix and Nap” doesn’t seem like a bad idea. (Hint, hint this would still be a great gift for me!)
Luvs knows all about what experience brings parents too. Check out their commercial:
As for me and #WhatULuv, here’s just a few things I was most thankful for just over the last week:
- LuLaRoe Leggings which pair particularly well with my holiday eating habits.
- Watching holiday movies with my kids and enjoying power naps on the couch.
- Having one of my kids suggest we spend the day after Thanksgiving watching movies and eating leftover pie instead of fighting crowds and shopping at the mall.
- Cyber Monday deals that let me do most of my shopping pantless, at home, and in my bed.
- Kids who can make it to the bathroom when they have a stomach bug.
Okay, that last one is still a bummer, but it beats scrubbing carpets and changing sheets in the middle of the night! And speaking of not having to change sheets in the middle of the night, Luvs has a new and improved Luvs Ultra Leakguard Diapers with NightLock Plus™.
