Your One Stop Halloween Shop!

I’m not going to lie, Christmas is still my favorite holiday, but since having children Halloween is in a close second.  I purchased a ton of decorations, and I love seeing the kids dressed in costumes, excited to be out after dark collecting candy (that I will have to taste test for safety reasons of course).  The one thing that was bringing me down about Halloween was the ridiculous running around I was doing trying to find costumes for everyone.  Last year I purchased the baby’s costume at one store, but Jake didn’t like the limited selection of toddler costumes and they didn’t carry Joey’s size. Then I found Jake’s at the Children’s Place, and again there was only a half dozen to choose from and they didn’t have Joey’s size.  Then one day while shopping in Costco, Joey saw a cheaply made Transformer’s costume he had to have.  Needless to say, it broke weeks before Halloween and he had to have the thin plastic taped and stapled to his sleeve.

That was three stores for three kids, and truth be told, I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t dress up also to take them out.  Decorating the house, participating in Halloween parades, buying candy, and of course dressing the kids really gets me in the “spirit” of the holiday.  After all the shopping and running around last year though I just said forget it.  This year, in my ever developing savvy online shopping skills, I came across my new favorite Halloween store, a one stop shop for everyone in my family, Dizguise.com!

Dizguise.com offers infants, kids, teens, and adult costumes, make-up and accessories, hats, wigs, party supplies and decorations and props.  When I brought the boys over to see what costumes they had, Jake immediately started asking for his favorite characters from Nickelodeon and he couldn’t decide between Pablo from the Backyardigans, Plex Robot from Yo Gabba Gabba, or SpongeBob Squarepants.  After serious deliberation, as serious as any three year old boy can get, Jake decided to go as Plex the Robot from Yo Gabba Gabba:

Jake will be Plex from Yo Gabba Gabba

After Jake got up and went to go tell his Dad what he picked Joey sulked for a minute.  When I asked him what was wrong he told me he didn’t want a “baby” costume like Jake. I told him I wouldn’t expect him to be in that kind of costume, after all he is five years old!  Joey’s mood immediately lifted as I browsed through a category I knew he would love, Superheroes!  Joey intently scanned the pages of costumes, telling me to remember some of his favorites. He went back and forth between The Amazing Spider-Man Reversible Red to Black Muscle Chest Child Costume which is like two costumes in one with a red side and black side, the Batman Dark Knight and the Iron Man 2 costumes. Again, after much thought and careful deliberation, the Batman Dark Knight won this year (in part to just getting the Batman Bat Cave and accessories last Christmas).

Joey will can't wait to be Batman!

After about forty minutes choosing costumes with the boys, I thought choosing one for the baby would be a piece of cake. Wrong!  There were so many adorable costumes I couldn’t pick.  Most of my favorites were in the Elite costumes and I had narrowed it down to three for her: the ‘Lil Monkey, the Rompin Roo Kangaroo, and the Pink Poodle.  After calling my Mom, best friends and soliciting the men in the house, the votes were in and the winner was the ‘Lil Monkey!

Since I can still taste the disappointment from last year and not having a costume of my own, I decided to check out the adult selection. Maybe Joe and I can sneak out to a Halloween party this year too, just to get the most of the costumes of course.  As I began browsing the pages, and again tried to solicit my husband’s opinion, I knew I was going to be a while. He said I could pick his costume too, since he was now charged with wrangling all three kids through dinner while I continued our Halloween shopping three months early. I shook off any sarcasm in his voice, and thought of a great way to cheer him up…couple costumes.  He would soon be eating his words.  Hmmm. So many choices, what to choose? What to choose? Should we go as something funny like Bacon and Eggs? I do love bacon, but no, only because it wouldn’t make sense when one of us was home passing out candy and one was walking with the kids. Perhaps he’s my Knight in Shinning Armour and I’m a Princess? No…Then I found it!  I am going to be the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz and Joe, my darling husband, will be one of my minions, otherwise known as a Flying Monkey! Ha!

I ordered all of our costumes from Dizguise.com and received all but my costume within a week! Not to worry, though mine will be here in a few weeks, well before Halloween.  The kids all went crazy when they saw their costumes, and unlike last year, I was able to let them try them on and play for a while without fear of breaking or ruining them.  The quality was unbelievable and I know we’ll be able to pass these on and they’ll be like new for the next kids.  The baby’s costume was so soft that when she took it off, she was cuddling with it as if it were a toy!  My kids also thought my husband’s costume was as hilarious as I did, but I get the feeling I’ll be getting “paid back” eventually for this one…it’ll be worth it though!

I am so proud of my online shopping skills this Halloween, and this is another reason why I prefer online shopping to the nightmare that always happens when I drag my three young kids to stores. In this scenario, I was able to sit on my couch, let my kids take their time and pick out their own costumes and even got something for me too; and delivered to my door in a matter of days. Amazing!  Dizguise.com is also affiliated with another company, MaxWigs.com in the event you are really going all out for Halloween and need some wigs to go with your costume.  After the constant humidity this summer, I might just get one for my own daily use, so I can stop worrying about my hair!  My only regret at this point is that I was so wrapped up in the costumes, I didn’t look at the party supplies or decorations.  I plan on going back after I get my decorations out and see if there is anything else that could order to enhance our holiday experience.

Since I had a wonderful experience thus far, and like I said I’m going back for more, the good folks over at Dizguise.com and MaxWigs.com have given you a coupon codes to use on your Halloween order too!
