Midnight Lullaby
Jane Roman Pitt, also known as Lady Lullaby, is no stranger to the music industry. But for this album, Midnight Lullaby, she was inspired by the birth of a grandchild. Jane, who holds a graduate’s degree in music history and composition, says “New parents often play their own personal favorites for their children, rather than traditional bedtime nursery rhymes. I found soothing bedtimes songs that these artists wrote for their own children, using their personal thoughts and musical styles.” Jane’s CD features music from singer songwriters including Bob Dylan, Wilco, Tom Waits, The Dixie Chicks, Sade and more.
I chose to listen to Jane’s Midnight Lullaby in the evening after my children were in bed, and if the purpose was to gently lull you to sleep, I can honestly say it worked. I woke up hours later with my earphones still plugged in, and realized I had dozed off somewhere around track 3! Armed with some coffee, I listened to the full album the next day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jane’s choice of songs were wonderful and her folksy voice gives you (or as intended, your child) a gentle and soothing way to drift off to sleep. I’ve also tested this with my daughter, who sleeps typically with a noise machine, and she also went to sleep after just a few tracks.
So whether you are looking for a great, soft and soothing mix of music for your child (or like me, for yourself), grab a copy of Jane Roman Pitt’s Midnight Lullaby, a refreshing modern mix of bedtime lullaby’s.
