Jantzen Vamp Maillot One Piece Swimwear

You know what I hate about bathing suit shopping?  Everything.  Well, most everything.  The majority designers and stores seem to cater to the small percentage of women built like runway models and don’t offer enough for the rest of us.  If that wasn’t bad enough, what they do have for the rest of us are not stylish, comfortable or even that flattering.  Then to add insult to injury, I recently received a pitch from a company that wanted me to review some less than flattering suits.  One great thing to come from it though was an introduction from one of my favorite Sponsors and maker of the forever fabulous “No Muffin Top Skirt”, Alyson Clair (of Clair Vintage Inspired Clothing), to the Portland based Popina Swimwear Boutique.

Popina Swimwear Boutique is a woman owned, Designer Swimwear line based in Portland, Oregon.  They believe you don’t have to “show it all” to be Sexy. Their Conservative, Vintage 1950′s Inspired Woman’s Swimsuit line, made in the USA, provides designs which are fun, flattering and fashionable, drawing Retro Swimwear inspiration from Vintage Swimsuits of the past.  They’ve managed to mix fashion, quality, affordability, and fun into swimsuits you’ll love to wear (which if you ask me, is something so many other designers have failed to do).

It’s no secret that I love vintage inspired and retro clothing, and the vintage swimwear offered by Popina is no exception.  Their website is easy to navigate and I had so much fun browsing the different suits, styles, and patterns available.  My biggest challenge was coming to a decision on which suit I wanted to own…which one suit I wanted to own that is.

Popina offers Two Piece Suits with several different styles/colors for both tops and bottoms. I loved the boy shorts and short skirted bottoms that would easily compliment their stylish tops.  They also offer tankini‘s and a variety of one piece suits as well.  I decided on a one piece suit and although I loved the Retro One Piece Grace Suit (in both the red/white polka dot and navy/white polka dots) and the Retro Paula in Chocolate/Teal, I decided to go with one of the Jantzen® Vamp Maillot Suits.

Jantzen® Vamp Maillot is a Retro One Piece Swimwear style with an elegant silhouette and front shirring which give a comfortable and stylish cover to my abdominal area.  It features a detachable and adjustable strap as well as soft bra cups that provide plenty of support, yet give a sexy look.  Finally the suit also offers a flattering lower leg for a Vintage, Retro look.

Bathing suits have the possibility to highlight your flaws, just by their tight nature.  However, with the Jantzen® Vamp Maillot is a Retro One Piece, which I ordered in red, with its shirring creates a desirable and flattering effect.  I wasn’t worried that I would look “rolly,” and this suit was flattering and comfortable enough that I didn’t even wear my usual cover/shorts.  It was comfortable and even complimentary to my hour glass shape.  The quality is also great and I haven’t noticed any color fading, shrinking, etc, so for $60.00 this is a suit is a great value and that you’ll be wearing year after year.

So whether you love the vintage and retro look, or whether you are just looking for a fashionable and comfortable bathing suit, I highly recommend checking out Popina Swimwear Boutique!  You can visit their website and Follow them on Twitter too!
