Rock the Vote

in Uncategorized on 06/11/12

As usual, you won’t see me getting political here, but I do hope that you all get out and vote for your candidates.

This morning I rocked the vote…I rocked it sick, feverish, smelling of Vicks Vapor Rub, and wearing last night’s Breathe Right Strip, but dammit, I voted!

I’m feeling purdy and patriotic today!

Now that my duty is done, I’m going to stay curled up in a ball next to a humidifier for the rest of the day, and hope that my kids, who are off school for Election Day, don’t go all Lord of the Flies while I’m incapacitated.

I actually haven’t been this sick in almost a year, but the last time I was down and out, I did figure out how to keep my kids happily distracted.  Last year first I tried asking, begging, and pleading with my kids to let me lay on the couch and die in peace, but it finally took me losing my temper and yelling out, “What the hell do I have to do to get you kids to be good for one day?!” to get them to at least tell me what I had to do, in fact, to keep them quiet and happy:

At the time I thought I was getting a Get Well Soon card, but this proved to be much more valuable.  Today’s menu includes Halloween candy, Netflix and Wii.  One day won’t hurt…

So do what you have to do today, and get out there and vote!

Oh Man! I am sick too, and letting the kids have way too much TV time. But I must say, voting is ALL about absentee ballots!!! No lines and no vapor rub or nose strips in public necessary.

It gets to the point where one DOESn’t mind having a sick day… and saying to hell with everything- yep, it’s a netflix day…. and I’m not cooking- eat whatever you find……….I have to get my hind end out to vote!!! Before the after work crowds start!!!! yikes

I love that you went out in that nose strip. I wish you would have worn the pink suit, too.

Oh, hi there!

Somewhere between love and madness lies...Motherhood.
I'm a 30 something Mom to three small children, and I'm the first to admit that it's not all Hallmark Moments. Celebrating all that being a stay at home, sleep deprived, non-exercising, carb-eating, wine-loving, married, 30-something has to offer. Looking at the lighter side of life and rocking what I've got left.
