My family and I celebrate Christmas, and it is hands down my absolute favorite time of the year. There’s a special kind of magic in it again too since I’ve had kids, and I seriously love everything about the season (except maybe for that Elf).
Really what’s not to love?
I get to deck the halls and trim a tree. There’s so much good food and good cheer. I love the gifting and I’ll admit the even the getting can be fun too. Plus there are the all the parties and the food (so good it’s worth mentioning it twice).
And there’s the rest of the cooking and cleaning before gatherings.
And shopping, and the spending, and OMG the crowds.
And the calendar is full, and the days seem shorter, and is it actually possible to get it all done in time?
DEEP BREATH.
Whew.
Despite my love for this time of year it is so easy to get swept up in the hustle and bustle of the season.
I’ve learned a little secret though, and I’m going to share it with you now:
I’m not saying I’m immune to holiday stress, but there are two big things I do to help me take the all the parties and the gifts less seriously.
First, there’s the bad gifts that my family and I purposefully buy for our big exchange (it all started with a pair of men’s thong underwear), and it’s even lead to my blog’s annual Bad Gift Guides!
The second thing I do, as seen in the photo above and all the pictures below, is to select the perfect holiday outfit every year – by perfect I obviously mean ugly.
And when it comes to ugly holiday outfits there’s no better place to go than the Tipsy Elves!
You might recall my one piece holiday jumper from last year that I purchased from The Tipsy Elves, and I also bought the slightly sacrilege Happy Birthday Jesus Sweater (hey, I stand by the fact that JC has to have a sense of humor).
This year I bought myself my annual ugly Christmas sweater, the Tipsy Elves’ Elf Sweater Dress, and they were also nice enough to add to my jumper collection with a Red Ugly Wrapping Paper Onesie.
Not only is there no possible way to take anything seriously while wearing a one piece jumper, but especially not one as ugly as this one. In their own words it’s perfect for someone who might find their other jumpsuits too mundane or too attractive. This festive garment features blue and white reindeer prancing and white kittens getting ready to un-trim a tree. It’s purdy. It’s also super warm & has two zippered pockets as well as the front zipper that goes all the way up! I wore my green one shoveling snow almost the entire winter last year!
When I made my sweater dress purchase I was really torn because this one almost looks cute. I was really leaning towards the Jesus & Santa Christmas Bro’s or the Dreamy Narwhal sweater, but my love of the movie Elf won out, and this year’s pick was the ugliest sweater dress I now own. It’s actually very soft and well made, and one of my most comfortable sweaters just like my Happy Birthday Jesus one was last year.
Here’s a look at this year’s #winning Ugly Sweaters from the Tipsy Elves:
