I’m a Mom, but I consider myself a humorist too. In fact, I think having a good sense of humor and the ability to find comedy in every day life, is what helps me cope with all that life tends to throw my way (you know like lemons, LEGOS and lots of other stuff too). It’s why generally I keep things on the lighter side here.

I don’t just try to blog about funny stories either. In my free time – you know, in between loads of laundry – I love reading humor books and I also enjoy going to see comedians perform live. It’s also why I’m sharing my next favorite hilarious Christmas movie, Daddy’s Home starring Will Farrell, Mark Wahlberg, and Linda Cardellini, which will be hitting theaters nationwide starting Christmas Day!

The gist of the movie is that Will Ferrell plays a mild-mannered radio executive who strives to become the best step dad to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling and freeloading real father, Mark Wahlberg, arrives, forcing him to compete for the affection of the kids.

Check out the official Daddy’s Home Trailer here:

“Looks like we’ve got ourselves a good old fashioned Dad Off!”

Although my household is considered a traditional family, strictly speaking that there are no step-parents, I can still totally relate to the the fun ways that family members can try to one up each other. In my family this is never more apparent – or hilarious – than around the holidays.

In fact, my family’s holiday antics, which started with a pair of men’s XL thong underwear of all things, have led to my entire family (parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins) trying to give the worst (aka funniest) White Elephant Gifts every year. My family’s own bad gift giving tradition is also what inspires my annual bad gift guide full of the weirdest, funniest and just plain bad gifts you could possible imagine.

I’ve been the proud recipient of the aforementioned men’s thong underwear, cat sweatshirts, belly dancing lessons, (2) fire extinguishers, my cousin’s face on a pillow and more!

bad gifts past

Not that I haven’t given my share of terrible gifts – like a queen size throw blanket with a picture of me in a leopard print bathing suit on it. Or there was that plush doll with my likeness from ThoughtfulYou. I like to personalize my bad White Elephant gifts, you see. That way my family member will always remember who it was from.

So even if you can’t relate to the blended family portrayed in #DaddysHome, I’m sure your entire family will think the over the top competition between Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg is hilarious. And if laughing isn’t enough of a reason to head to theaters starting Christmas Day there’s never a good reason not to go and watch Mark Wahlberg…

Oh, hi there!

Somewhere between love and madness lies…Motherhood.

I’m a 30 something Mom to three small children, and I’m the first to admit that it’s not all Hallmark Moments. Celebrating all that being a stay at home, sleep deprived, non-exercising, carb-eating, wine-loving, married, 30-something has to offer. Looking at the lighter side of life and rocking what I’ve got left.
