The feathered hair. The floppy disks. The acid-washed jeans. Pepsi Throwback’s nostalgic 70s and 80s packaging will really brings you back. Even the taste, made with real sugar, is iconic.
In April 2009, Pepsi launched its real-sugar cola, with the look and taste you remember from when you were a kid, for a limited time only. Now, thanks to organic consumer campaigns (i.e., 20,000 fans on consumer-generated Facebook page!) and overwhelming demand, Pepsi is announcing the return of Throwback- and this time it’s here to stay!
I sat down with my Pepsi Throwback, closed my eyes and was taken back…way back. I felt like I needed my walkman with my favorite cassette (probably a mix tape with a little Debbie Gibson, Madonna and George Michael to name a few). I needed my favorite jelly shoes or maybe just my roller skates. My hair is done in a fabulous sideways ponytail and I’m sporting one of my favorite denim jackets.
I open my eyes…Whoa! Was it the Pepsi can’s throwback look? Or the great real sugar taste I remembered as a kid? Whatever it was, it left me wanting more…and gave me a strange craving for some 80′s movies.
I loved the Pepsi Throwback and I’m not just saying that cause I gave up soda for Lent (and “cheated” just this one time). The taste was great, and I loved the can’s look.
