You may recall back in the Spring I did a delicious review of Chocolate Merlot Cupcakes from Starting from Scratch Bakery. I explained that nearly nine years ago I developed a terrible allergy to wheat. If I eat even the smallest amount I become extremely sick to my stomach, have swelling in my joints, and even get numbness in my extremities. Several times I’ve even had to be hospitalized- it’s not fun. Because I really have had no other choice, I went nearly a decade without a delicious baked dessert. Sure over the years I’ve tried making my own, bought brand after brand of gluten free cakes, cupcakes, muffins, etc. but none were even close to eating the real thing.
Honestly, I had given up years ago on finding a good dessert. So I was a bit skeptical when Susan from Starting from Scratch Bakery contacted me about trying some of her products. Starting from Scratch Bakery is a mail order/delivery bakery that specializes in cupcakes, cakes, muffins, cookies and scones (most of which can also be made gluten free). But after she offered up the chance to try her Chocolate Blackberry Merlot, with a name like that, I couldn’t refuse. You can read the full review here, but basically it was divine. Not only was it the best gluten free dessert I’ve had in a decade, it was better than the real thing.

Strawberry lemonade cupcakes… We use to have a bakery here that made them and I miss them soo much. So fragrant, light, sweet and tart!! Just lovely!

Oh so many cupcake combinations I’d love to get my hands on… coconut with key lime frosting… lemon with blueberry frosting… cinnamon with vanilla bean frosting… I am getting hungry just thinking about it!

Loved looking around your web site, the cupcakes looked delicious, but the brownies are looking just as good! Since husband is Diabetic, I try to do the gluten free things for him, your products are perfect!
