These days it seems to be getting harder and harder for me to find family activities that everyone will enjoy. With two boys ages 9 and 7, and a girl who is 5, we’re just getting to a point where they all have very different hobbies and interests.
However, recently I’ve found the tie that binds…
Nickelodeon Green Slime.
Yes, that’s right – it’s good old fashioned homemade slime, and my kids went crazy over it.
With the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards returning this Saturday, March 28th at 8pm, I was asked to share my own #ReadySetSlime moment, and my kids jumped at the chance to participate.
They probably should have reserved some of their excitement though because I decided to use this opportunity to my advantage. You see, I frequently bribe reward my kids for things like good behavior, helping out around the house and for doing well at school.
Since this week’s reward was not only making slime, but also getting to dump it on my head, I really made those kids work for it!
For example, instead of just cleaning up her toys and making her bed each day, I asked my daughter to help out with some of my least favorite chores. Not only did she not complain, my kitchen floor has never looked so clean!
For the oldest of my crew, who already helps with the bigger stuff, he went straight to kissing up to secure his slime spot.
My middle one decided to take a break from playing super hero to be a super helper at dinner. I must say his roasted chicken was delicious; I really need to get his recipe.
So after all the kissing up, it was time to pay the piper. Check out the video of me getting slimed in honor of the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
Oh, they got me good!
This was such a fun (and productive) week, I may just make this a part of our weekly bribery reward system…except maybe next time my husband can take a turn getting slimed.
If you want to make your own slime, you can try this recipe that we found on Pinterest. Might I suggest using warm water, particularly if you choose to this outside when it’s 40 degrees!
Share your own slime moments with the #ReadySetSlime hashtag, and be sure to tag me (@NoDomesticDiva on Twitter & Instagram) so I can check them out too!
