How to Get a ‘Dad Bod’ in One Easy Step Even if You’re a Woman!

May 7, 2015 by Divine Secrets of a Domestic Diva

Recently, there was a blog post from student Mackenzie Pearson that went viral after she wrote about the latest trend in men’s physiques – the Dad Bod.

So what is the Dad Bod; well, Pearson describes it as “The dad bod is a nice balance between a beer gut and working out. The dad bod says, “I go to the gym occasionally, but I also drink heavily on the weekends and enjoy eating eight slices of pizza at a time.” It’s not an overweight guy, but it isn’t one with washboard abs, either.”

You may have even spotted this popular physical form on celebs like Jason Segel and Leonardo DiCaprio, but there’s good news for women – You can have a Dad Bod too!

Ladies, to get a Dad Bod follow this one simple step:

STEP 1: Have a baby. Mother Nature will take care of the rest.

Unless you’re that one model who sported six-pack abs while pregnant (and I’m not hatin’, you go on with your bad self, girl!), chances are you’ll find that your body after giving birth is totally primed for Dad Bod condition.

You won’t need to worry if you had a vaginal delivery or a C-Section, and it also won’t matter if you’re nursing or not. All that stretching of the skin, weight gain, and probably a change in metabolism, hormones (or both) has laid the groundwork for getting the perfect Dad Bod.

However, there are some things that you’ll need to do to keep your body in Dad Bod condition.

You’ve got to maintain that Dad Bod, Mamas!

1. Exercise just as hard as you did before having kids.

2. Eat a well balanced diet.

3. Do some sit ups and maybe some burpees too.

4. Use a skin firming cream.

5. Avoid alcohol.

6. Run a marathon.

7. Use some of those wrap things, apply more creams, try some steams, light a candle and make a sacrifice to the gods of pre-baby bodies!

8. Oh, f@ck it! Just eat what you want.

If you have multiple children, multiple pregnancies, and throw in what happens to women as we age, you’ll likely find maintaining a Dad Bod is as easy as working out harder than you ever have before in your life but for minimal results!

But don’t worry Moms, at least our physique is finally on trend!

Are you into Dad Bods? Do you think it’s a double standard? Are you like me and you don’t really care, but you’re secretly kind of stoked that you have an in-style body type even if it’s the body type of a man? Leave me a comment and let me know, I’d love to hear from you!

The Short on Susan

Back when I was a child, I never dreamed of becoming a blogger…. In part because the internet didn’t exist in 1983, and also because I had an aptitude towards becoming a Muppet and/or Solid Gold Dancer. Sadly those dreams never came to pass, but after I decided to stay home with my kids, I discovered a love for blogging.
