Vive Vita’s motto is “creating solutions for everyday living.” Vive Vita actually has a handful of creative, innovative products, and I was recently able to sample two of them.
Bandettes:
I love, love, love this idea and wish I had this product five years ago! The Bandettes fit most child cup (and bottle) sizes, and fit well on our Gerber, Evenflo and First Year’s brand cups that we have at home. The Bandettes have several great features: first, write your child’s name, allergy or other important info right onto the Bandette. If it’s something you want to wipe off, you can, or write the info you want to keep and make it long term by boiling or dishwashing the band with the desired writing left on. This would have been a Godsend at daycare (since several kids had the same style cups), and it would have made it easier for my kids to identify their own cup. It’s still great now for parties or anywhere there are lots of kids (camp, school, activities, etc). Another great feature is that it makes it easier for the littler ones to grip the cup. It’s also made of non-toxic material that meets FDA standards for plastics that come in contact with foods. They remove and clean easily, and it is such a simple, stylish fix to such a daily dilemma!

Gripsterz:
Okay, first of all, this is not a child leash. If you use a leash, I’m not judging, but I’ve never been able to use one myself. Regardless, this is not a leash. It’s a nice alternative to one. I’ve tried this out on two of my kids with varying levels of success. First, was Jake, a known wanderer and a very curious three and a half year old boy. The first two times, at a grocery store and a pharmacy, Jake held the cute monkey Gripsterz, and when he spotted something that was further than the “vine” allowed him to go, the clever boy would simply drop it and go aft what he wanted. Now, since this isn’t a restraint (aka leash), I was well aware that this could and probably would happen. What I can say is that it did keep him by my side significantly longer than normal, and the next time we went to the store, he asked to use it. I’d call that a success. I also tried it once with my 18 month old daughter, and she held onto it the entire time we were walking around outside. I was impressed, but we’ll have to test it somewhere else too.
Gripsterz kit includes: one irresistible Grippy monkey ring with attaching clip, two vine straps (1 ft & 2 ft) with an attaching clip, an adult handle, a convenient storage bag and a Grippy book for kids. For more info, including a quick video demonstration, visit the Gripsterz page on the Vive Vita website here.

Hi Susan.
First, thank you for the review. You have a really nice, easy and fun writing style.
We have 9 little ones of our own, and never understood when people would say they had ‘a runner’ until our unique and beautiful Robert came along. That was our ‘aha!’ moment when we finally could relate.
What we found worked best with Robert was to use the velcro wrist strap, included in the kit, and attach just that and the monkey to his wrist for a day or two at home. This kept Grippy the Monkey close enough to him for Robert to realize that it’s a cute character and he feels good to hold. Once he developed a psychological bond he was much better at holding on when we went out.
It’s also a lot easier to say ‘hold on to your monkey so we can keep him close’, rather than commanding the child to stay within arm’s length. This way it is as if the monkey is the one who needs to be kept close and your little guy is helping you keep the monkey nearby. Psychological bonding tends to be far more effective than physical binding.
Anyway, that’s what we found worked for us with a ‘runner’. Keep us posted if you find creative ways to keep things fun and fresh with your little ones when you are taking them out with you.
Thanks again for your review. And I love your blog!
